What is Molecular, Cell, and Developmental Biology?

What is the difference between Microbiology and Molecular and Cell Biology?

  • I'm looking into my major for college, and when i talked to some people they told me to go into microbiology. I am very interested in cells, bacteria, viruses, diseases etc. I find them amazing, and I want to know more about them and possibly help find cures. But as i was looking up the biology parts on the college websites some have Microbiology and Molecular and Cell Biology, some just Molecular and Cell Biology, and some just Microbiology. they make it seem like the same thing. Is there a difference? what does each one mean completely? and which do you think would be best for me?

  • Answer:

hi , i think what you want to study is microbiology because of your interest in bacteria, virus and all the MICROorganisms and the diseases caused by the microbes. Molecular biology is the study of different molecular reactions going on in each cell ffor its survival, division and proliferation Cell biology (also includes the above) is mainly study of cells individually and as a group( tissues). Mol bio, cellbio does not pertain only to microbes but also to all living cells even human cells. i hope u got an idea,if u have further doubts.Question..;)
