Will a clone/cutting of a plant be the same sex?
-
not any particular plant but just in general thanks
-
Answer:
Dear Kevin, a clone by definition has the same genetic constitution as the original organism - as such, it will have the same gender (sex is an inappropriate term to use as it is more used in place of the action of copulation). A cutting of a plant is the same organisms that is being split so will have the same gender. The difficulty though for plants is that most plants are bisexual - i.e. they consist of both genders.
