Do Woolly Bear caterpillars always have to be black with a brown middle?
-
I found 3 fuzzy black and brown caterpillars at my grandpa's house in Anoka, MN. I think they're woolly bears, but one's mostly black, one's kinda multicolored randomly, and one's mostly reddish brown. They're all the same shades of black and brown. My brother's and I kept them, but we need to know what type of caterpillar they are to know how to take care of them. Do woolly bears always have to be the same color pattern? Thanks!

Answer:
They can be brown, red or yellow in the middle. And thee doesn't necessarily have to be a middle color. Some of the are fully brown, and fully yellow, fully black, fully white, etc. some are even black with just the sticking out fur being yellow on the tips. So to answer your question, No hun.
