Describe the Theory of the Origin of Life?

In your own words describe the Theory of the Origin of Life?

  • Answer:

Well maybe not completely my own words, but Richard Dawkins has a pretty good explanation in his book "The Selfish Gene." He says that in the primordial soup of simple organic elements, more complex molecules formed by chance, bonding with other molecules they bumped into. Over millenia and longer, some of these molecules by chance achieved the ability to replicate themselves through chemical bonds with similar molecules floating around. These 'replicators' were the first 'life' in that they could reproduce themselves. Eventually the most successful replicators became the genes that are in every organism alive today.
