Why does sex cause UTI's?

Help with UTIs?

  • I have gotten 2 UTIs within the past 2-3 months...I was just wondering what causes them and why I've gotten them so much. I got on birth control about 4 months ago and started having sex about 2 1/2 months ago. could those things cause it? please help! thank you!

    when i first started having sex i got a couple too. be sure to wash up quickly and very well. if you still get one and dont want to keep using antibiotics, try something called AZO Standard. this helps with the pain and discomfort while you drink enough water to clean your bladder out. if you get a really bad one and do go on antibiotics, the AZO is still helpful before the antibiotics kick in.

One of the number one reasons for getting a UTI is not urinating after sex. I've had three in my life since i started being sexually active and when my father in law, who is a nurse, told me this i changed my ways and haven't suffered one since. Hope this helps.

A lot of times women will get them when they first start having sex. You could also get them from wiping from back to front (get bacteria in your ut) or even wearing pants/shorts that are too small. Good luck! :)
