Girls: Did your first visit to the gynecologist hurt, too?

I'm 17 and I just visited the gynecologist for the first time. I didn't think it would hurt as much as it did. I was not relaxed as much as I could have been, so I'm wondering if that was the cause of the pain during the exam. I'm also a virgin, so that might have something to do with it. I just want to know if that pain is normal. It wasn't unbearable, but it did hurt pretty bad. It was a sore, almost burning feeling. Did you experience anything like this? Thanks so much.

Yep, not fun!!! My first time I was a virgin too. Actually, it hurts even worse if you happen to have polyps or any problem in the uterus or ovaries. Just know it will end soon. You may bleed for a few days. Next time you know what to expect so you try to relax those muscles a bit more and it shouldn't hurt so much.
