Is DePaul University good?

Any chance I can get into DePaul University?

  • Okay, I know it's kind of a longshot here, but I REALLY want to go to DePaul and I need someone elses opinion. Please only answer this if you know what youre talking about. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Well.. my GPA sucks. Just reaching over the 3.0 mark. Freshman and sophomore year in highschool I didnt necessarily care about anything and got 3 D's, scattered C's, seldom B's and probably one A. Junior year I stepped it up and took no standard classes aside from Chemistry and Health (no such thing as honors Health) and I took all honors classes. I also took AP English. I ended my year out well, improved a lot (well, for me) and got A, bunches of B's, one C, and (IM SO MAD ABOUT THIS) one D in trigonometry. What was I thinking even taking that class? I guess I just challenged myself too much. I got a 1700 on the SAT's. Which isn't all too bad. I have yet to take it again, in 3 weeks, and I plan to get much better. I'm also considering taking the ACT's since apparently they're a tad easier to those of us with creative minds. Let's just say I'll get...a 25. or 26. Extracurriculars: Key Club (this community thing), Dulanians (helping out at school), and uh...Latin Club. All 3 joined in junior year when I actually started caring. I'm involed in Girl Scouts, still, and I recieve all these random awards cause of it. I know it looks excellent to still be involved in something like this so I'm hoping that helps. 1 year of spanish, 3 consecutive years of Latin. On my 3rd year of Yearbook staff. Regarding this first quarter (of my senior year) I'm almost POSITIVE I'll end it with straight A's, possibly a B. I really stepped it up. I'm in AP English, Anatomy, Tech, Psychology, EPI, College Algebra (kill me), Yearbook, and Latin. 4 honors, 1 AP, and the other 3 classes are required to take so therefore they are standard. I am an EXCELLENT writer though. I'm pretty sure I'll excel on the college essays (DePaul apparently requires you to answer 4 short questions essay-style, not necessarily one big college essay) so that should help me out as well. I'm hoping the SATS/ACTS and my writing help out. But like I said, my GPA is really unfortunate. My transcript is really embarassing. Freshman year its like, B C C D C C D, Sophomore it's like C C C B C D C, Junior it's like B B C D B B A and Senior year first quarter (here's hoping) it'll be A B A A A A A. I just need someones legit opinion. I'm trying my best to get into a relatively good college and I am really not interested in going to a community college for 2 years. DePaul features an excellent location and my major, so I'm really into it. I wish I could schedule an interview to help out, but I live 9 hours away from there, so it's not going to happen. Thank you SO much for reading this, answers will be greatly appreciated =)

  • Answer:

Unless you absolutely ace your ACT, I think DePaul is a distant dream for you. Your grades are just too scattered
