Answer:
I'm treasurer of our anime club, so I think I can help you out. *Keep in mind, I'm in college, so some of these Ideas might not be realistic for you guys.* Anyway, we start the first week of club (1st week of school) w a "movie week". Our meetings last 3 hrs, so we can fit 2 movies in. We meet tuesday and thursday for 3 hrs a piece. After the first week, we show 5-6 series all semester, 2 epi/night. The last slot is random stuff brought in. We meet like this all semester. Our shows are usually 26 epi, or less. If the show only has 13 epi, put another one to finist out the semester. The last week (week before finals) is our last movie week. We show all different types and try to mix it up. Last Semester for instance: Tues: 6:00-Princess Tutu, 7:00-Gungrave, 8:00-Black Heaven/Full Metal Panic? Fumoffu Thurs: 6:00-Mai Hime, 7:00-Ghost Stories, 8:00- Officer Slot (random stuff) If your club can't meet this often, meet when you can and only show a few shows at a time. In addition to watching anime for 6 hrs, we also plan trips and parties. We have 2 parties/semester. For the Fall, we have a Halloween and Holiday party. In the Spring, we have a Valentine/White Day and End of the Year party. At the parties, we play video games (usually DDR, fighting, and Wii games), eat pizza, and play games. Some games are: Wheel of Anime (obviously Wheel of Fortune), Name That Tune, Pictionary (DON'T ask anyone to draw "anime"), and Charades. Some trips we plan are to JMK Nippon (Japanese resturaunt), Anderson Gardens (Japanese Graden), and Mitsuwa (Japanese Marketplace w/ anime toystore close bye). Bear in mind, my college is near Chicago. You might have to look around to find places like these near you. Our last big event is ACEN, a HUGE anime convention in Roesmont, Illinois. Keep in the look out, though: If this is too far, there are convention held throughout the year in various cities. Try to rig it so your club members can all go together. I would suggest some officers to keep things orderly. We have a president (runs things, scouts for trips, arrainges said trips and other events. We have a Vice President (helps pres, acts as pres when he/she isn't present, Manages website (if you want one), and makes fliers (highly recommended, main way we get new members). We also have a treasurer (Me!). The treasurer collects dues and money for parties, reimburses drivers (if need be), and and keeps track of club member list and sign-up sheets for events. Oh, we have a way to make sure ppl pay their dues: If they don't pay, they cannot take part in the club (showings, parties, everything) It's a very effective method. Find some good, reliable friends to take up these positions. After this year, hold elections. In terms of shows, just show what you have on hand for this semester. Close to the end of the semester, we have a day (usually Sunday) to slow suggested shows for next semester. We also use our officer slots for that, too. Like I said before, try to get a good balance (1 comedy, drama, 1 shojo, 1 mech, ect.) Try to appeal to everyone's tastes. Oh, whatch what you show. We have a rule where, if a show is licensed, we must show the DVD/VHS version of it. If it isn't, we can burn if off the internet and show it. Find out what companies don't mind you showing their stuff. Some, like Studio Ghibli (owned by Disney) is off limits to us. If you don't want to follow this warning and do what you want, watch it and be careful. Don't get caught. :) This is all I can think of for now. If you have any other questions, e-mail me. I'll help u out all I can. Hoped this helped. Good Luck. Oh... P.S: We're more oriented toward anime, not manga. There are, however, a bunch of guys that do read manga. They discuss on their own what they think of certain titles. Another event we have is Art Day (forgot). That day, we meet and one of the club members (usually an art major) teaches the others how to draw characters. Just find someone who is incredibly good and drawing anime characters and ask them if they would teach others. That's all I know about our manga portion. It seems that everyone in the club, but me reads them.

i live in a really small town too so i know that your resources are limited. you can have people watch different animes and report back on what they thought of them. you can also have people create their own mangas.

Another fun idea might be contests. My anime club at school does this. We watch about three episodes of one series, then take a break, then watch three episodes of a different series. In between, the people in charge suggest a contest, usually having to do with the first show that we're watching. For instance, they might say, "If you had powers like this character, what would they be?" or "Design your own sword and write what it would do" or something like that. Everyone who wants to participate writes and/or draws their response, then they are all shared and the people in charge declare a winner. The prizes can be something small, like a box of Pocky or a keychain or something. Contests are a good idea, I think, because they help get everyone active and sharing in the anime together.

If you have Anime DVDs you can watch then and then comment of what you and your club member think about them, as well as try to keep up with what is coming out next in the Anime and Manga world, so when you get to gather you that talk about what your excited to see and what your not so excited to see. Also if you are good at drawing Anime and Manga you a can give a drawing class in the club to teach your club members how they do what they do is Anime artists. I hope this helps you in some way, p.s. don't get discouraged with attendance if they really love anime and Manga they will come. oh, yeah bring snacks as an Anime and Manga fan my self after school a snack is really needed to keep awake.

You should start off with finding a place and time for the club meetings. You can discuss things about anime and manga. Try to have a meeting once in a while where you can watch some or read some. Try to have snacks and drinks, too. Limit the time of your meeting to atleast 1 1/2 to 2 hours!

You could maybe start as a manga reading group then proceed to drawing. I've never been to one, so I don't know.

bring paper for the other people in the club, and pencils. you could ask each person to draw a comic strip. you might want to teach how to draw anime because some people might have come to learn to draw it. if you do, teach how to draw step by step. (e.g. one session for the eyes & face, middle section, and legs. also, you might teach them how to touch it up on the computer.) stop the club 15 minutes or so early so the people can show what they've done with the class hope that helped
