What is a good dramatic anime that is very intense?

What's a good anime series now + Anime survey?

  • Hey there. I haven't been watching the newer stuff lately so I was just wondering if there was anything good out. I'm mainly looking for more OVA-like (or 26 ep.) anime that have a superb plot line. (please do not say Naruto, Death Note, Code Geass, or Bleach). I heard Casshern Sins was pretty neat but I'm just not sure. >>>Please copy and paste survey thing below<<< 1). What old school anime is your ultimate favorite? why? 2). Are there many anime fans around you or are you a lone fan? 3). For those of you who buy anime, what is the best store to purchase from in your opinion? 4). What do you think of people who just buy anime or watch it on television? 5). How many channels did anime air on during five years ago and how many channels are airing it now? (please exclude the 24hr anime channels). Okay, I'm finally done. Thanks to all answers.

New stuff...new stuff...new stuff... You can try: La Maison en Petits Cubes (only 12 minutes) Its pretty good. Something with a slice of life like. There's no dialouge either. Its about an old man going into his house, containing memories of him and his family. http://myanimelist.net/anime/5365/La_Maison_en_Petits_Cubes Mizu No Kotoba (9 minutes) Another favorite of mine. A lot can go in 9 minutes in a cafe. Take a look. http://myanimelist.net/anime/2235/Mizu_no_Kotoba As for long series, I have no clue what you have watched and heard so far. Try, Baccano! (13 episodes) Its the Italian word for "noise". Its historical and the setting is America, but on the train though. It goes back and forth in the past and present. There's action as well. Pay close attention to who's a friend and foe. Blood+ (50 episodes) Another series that's great with action and monsterious beings, Chivaliers. Saya is the main protagonist, fighting against the chivaliers as memories are beginning to reemerge in her head. Texhnolyze (22 episodes) I watched the first episode for this one, so I can't really explain it. Its quite dark and hardly no dialogue in the first episode. Later on in the first episode, things are turning out to get complicated. (Ah, people are copying my rules of copy and paste nowadays, lol) 1). What old school anime is your ultimate favorite? why? -Dragon Ball because it brought me more into anime than ever before. I was a kid when I watched this series. Its great with action and comedy. 2). Are there many anime fans around you or are you a lone fan? -Yes, there's many, but I just like to be alone. Since I'm in college, my class schedule is different so I can't find any other fans. Its like being on a secluded island. When I see a local anime fan, I just bring out the lucky bait "manga", and they start to come to me. lol 3). For those of you who buy anime, what is the best store to purchase from in your opinion? -Best Buy - to get it cheap -Asian stores - they have all anime, except that the prices are expensive -Online: Amazon or Ebay for cheaper 4). What do you think of people who just buy anime or watch it on television? -I think they're cool people who support the companies of both English and Japanese companies as well as the creators. (I don't get the system, but this is how I figure out the basic points) 5). How many channels did anime air on during five years ago and how many channels are airing it now? (please exclude the 24hr anime channels). -I think it was just 3 channels (Cartoon Network, FoxKids, WBKids) -Now, its about 3-8 channels (Cartoon Network, Funimation, FoxKids, WBKids, etc...) -I hardly watch TV nowadays thanks to the "Internet". Edit: oh, lol Well, Suncoast went out of business in my mall. So, I only suggested the stores in my area. My mall is becoming just basically fast food and clothing store with Walmart. *facepalm* Sorry, I keep forgetting that you don't watch anything online due to youtube problems. Sorry. >_<

1). What old school anime is your ultimate favorite? why? - Well, my ultimate fav is Yu yu Hakusho because it's the first anime that I've watched that really have a good plot, good characters, good story, good powers, cool enemies, and many other good stuff that make up a really good action anime. 2). Are there many anime fans around you or are you a lone fan? - Around me? There's a lot in the internet. But, not a lot in real life. I pretty much keep my anime for myself in real life. 3). What do you think of people who just buy anime or watch it on television? - Well, if you're going to waste money, then you must buy and collect anime rather than pay and watch it once only. 5). How many channels did anime air on during five years ago and how many channels are airing it now? (please exclude the 24hr anime channels). - I watch with my computer, not in t.v.

1.) It's a tie between Neon Genesis Evangelion (and its finale movie The End of Evangelion) and Serial Experiments: lain . They're very deep shows. Read more about them at these links: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neon_Genesis_Evangelion_(TV_series) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Serial_Experiments_Lain 2.) I watched anime as a kid without knowing that it was anime (example: The Adventures of The Little Prince); I was too young to know what anime was. I got back into anime in 2001, thanks to Cartoon Network. Now, I love anime more than my brother does! :) 3.) Try Best Buy or this link; I have found them to be very reliable: http://www.animecornerstore.com/ 4.) Nothing wrong with either; that's usually what I do. :) 5.) 5 years ago: Cartoon Network, AZN (they're gone now), what's now known as G4TV, and sometimes my Encore movie channels have played anime movies....that's all that I can think of. Nowadays: Cartoon Network, Sci-Fi (Ani-Mondays), Encore movie channels, I think Starz movie channels play them, too, Disney XD plays Oban Star-Racers (a French and Japanese collaboration), Nickelodeon/Nicktoons played (and Nicktoons still plays) the anime-influenced Avatar: The Last Airbender. I hope that I've helped! :)

I agree that you should watch Gurren Lagann, because it is so full of awsome. Spice and Wolf is good as well; Season one was only 13 episodes and is deceptively good for an anime dealing with economics (I could be biased though; economics classes were some of my favorite classes in college. X3). 1). What old school anime is your ultimate favorite? why? Saber Marionette J, because Lime is so cute! Or Ronin Warriors, because it was my first and fegging awesome. 2). Are there many anime fans around you or are you a lone fan? I'm like proverbial the lightbulb on the front porch of the world. I first turned on to anime, not to many otakus around, but the longer the light stayed on the more that swarmed. 3). For those of you who buy anime, what is the best store to purchase from in your opinion? I buy once in awhile usually from rightstuf, movie stop, or anywhere that sells used DVDs. 4). What do you think of people who just buy anime or watch it on television? They're missing out on half the fun, lots of good shows you have to wait to be butchered by dubbing before you can see them. BUT whatever floats you boat. 5). How many channels did anime air on during five years ago and how many channels are airing it now? (please exclude the 24hr anime channels). I know it airs on cartoon network, the action channel, and I know it did air on techTV before it merged with G4 and a little after, but I don't have sattelite anymore, so I'm not sure if it still does. . .

1). What old school anime is your ultimate favorite? why? What do you classify as old school? 80's would be Robotech, Saber Rider and The Star Sheriffs or any thing by Mitsuru Adachi such as Touch. 90s would be Neon Genesis Evangelion, Gundam Wing or Sailor Moon they are all tied for 1st 2). Are there many anime fans around you or are you a lone fan? I am a lone fan... but lots of people i meet come to like anime but not become fans 3). For those of you who buy anime, what is the best store to purchase from in your opinion? Online at amazon.com 4). What do you think of people who just buy anime or watch it on television? They are fans. Just as much as people who go to conventions. I am one of those people, because i live so far away from the closes Anime convention it would cost like 1500$ to go, and that is a little pricey for me. Sucks living in a small town 5). How many channels did anime air on during five years ago and how many channels are airing it now? (please exclude the 24hr anime channels). I saw on my tv about 2 or 3 channels showed Anime Anime. YTV, cartoon, and a station that later became Kids WB And about 5 or 6 now. YTV, Cartoon Network, Fox, Space, and a couple more channels that are like space but i can't remeber. Space is a channel that shows old shows and movies and some times anime.
