    No, for those saying Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood is a remake of the original, they are wrong. In fact, it's a whole new anime but no, not a sequel either. To be more precise, it's the remake of the original story, not the original anime. So yeah, Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood is going to be close to the original story and might not contain fillers :)

The first FMA diverges from the Manga series soon after it begins. FMA: Brotherhood is going to stick with the Manga this time They are two different versions of the same series.

Brotherhood is a remake of the original series. The original was a lot different from the manga, while Brotherhood is closer to the story line. The manga is still ongoing, so the original series didn't know how it would end. Of course I'm not sure if this one does either :P
