What is an open call usually like?

What does this weird phone call sound like to you? ?

• Alright so I just got a call from an Unknown number. I picked it up and it was a guy, he sounded australian I think. Sounded like he was a man as well, he definitely wasn't my age (I'm 15). This is what the call went like: Me: hello Him: hi, is david there? Me: no, sorry I think you got the wrong number. Him: oh sh*t. Sorry. What's your number so that I don't call you again? Me: um.. Why would you need it? Its on your phone you just called me. Him: hm.. What's your name? Me: Ellie (not my real name, I lied to him and pretended to be called that) Him: what's your surname? I know a lot of Ellies Me: Um. I don't want to tell you that. Him: alright, where you from? Me: sorry i don't know why you want to know this information. Bye. I panicked and then I hung up on him. Man that was freaky. Does that sound like a pedophile to you or what?

  It is possibly just an opportunist - he genuinely had a wrong number and then just tried it on but equally it could have been someone ringing random numbers to see what he can find. I would suggest that you never get involved in these conversations. You hang up as soon as you have said "Sorry, wrong number" The reason for this is that if you have got some kind of pervert even listening to them is encouraging. Don't talk to them (even if you are lying). Always hang up.
