What's the difference between Obsession and love?

  • Is it true that obsession is just to build the ego, it's never true love! But false love? Some women told me it's to feed the ego, and then it turns into greed. it's just a way to build the ego, it's not real love. She says what happens is the person falls in love with someone else or starts looking around for someone else. is that true or no?

    Obsession is the absence of love actually. It's the fear that you might lose whoever it is at any given moment whether in actualitaly or thought. Love is just admiration. Vice versa, it's the absence of obsession. It's knowing you admire someone without any doubt or in other words, fear.

Yes, obsession is about satisfying fantasy or needs within yourself, it's about your fear making you seek protection or reassurance in having the person like you, and love is about reaching outside and beyond yourself - fearlessly. Love is when the focus is on finding out more about who the person really is inside, adoring their flaws instead of contemplating their beauty and power; and being open and eager towards everything about them that is different from your idea of them, seeing it as inspiring and challenging you to be more - rather than feeling threatened or disappointed if they don't meet your needs. Of course nobody will meet your needs for you, so if you were only obsessed, you'll eventually get disappointed, and leave as soon as someone else comes by who you can imagine will meet your needs.

Obsession can definitely turn into love...but then again, i guess you will never know. Love is different to everyone else. there is not right or wrong answer when it comes to matters of the heart. in my opinion, obsession can ONLY turn into love if it is mutual. but you never know:D
