What's the difference between Obsession and love?

  • Is it true that obsession is just to build the ego, it's never true love! But false love? Some women told me it's to feed the ego, and then it turns into greed. it's just a way to build the ego, it's not real love. She says what happens is the person falls in love with someone else or starts looking around for someone else. is that true or no?

To be obsessed with someone has an unhealthy connotation, as it suggests that the object of the obsession dominates ones thoughts, to the exclusion of other thoughts. Love would not exclude, but compliment.

An obsession is an unhealthy and often illogical attraction. Many young girls are often obsessed with teen idols like Justin Bieber. They can focus on nothing but Justin (which isn't healthy) and ignore the logic that they will likely never even meet him in their lifetime. They think that they LOVE him without ever having met him. I disagree with the notion that this is to build an ego. In fact, it usually tears down one's sense of self. A person obsessed with Justin (for example) may ignore other viable friends or suitors in favor of the immagined life with the object of their obsession.
