What do you think online chat websites/forums would be if there were no acronyms and things like that?

Just wondering, what if there were no abreviations for words and people had to type out everything, and if there were no acronyms like LOL and LMAO for example, also if there were no emoticon faces like: :) =D ^_^ T_T -_- ;D What do you think it would be like? and do you think it would be better or worse? Do you think people would use online chat things as much?

It wouldn't necessarily worse though, but not better...=P Do you think people would use online chat things as much? Nopes, but they will still use them. To be honest though, I think that though that type of langauge abbreviation and emoticon used derived from the existence of online messaging, online messaging wouldn't be as popular if there wasn't the invention of abbrevaitions and online language. It's kind of an exclusive club where you have to have the knowledge of how to use it to be a part of it, which makes it popular. So it kind of goes in a circle? Like online language wouldn't exist without messaging, but messaging wouldn't be popular without that language. You need it to be popular to develop that online language even more. Ums yeah lol. that was long. *Hopes it wasn't too confusing*

They'd be .... less quirky, maybe more comprehensible to some. I think more people would participate, even though it shouldn't keep anyone away. Some of those acronyms are getting played out. That's okay ... people post everything here in WWP.
