What is a vinyl cutter used for?

Could the adjective Cookie-Cutter be used for non-physical nouns?

  • Cookie-cutter homes are homes that look identical, say, in apartments. Could I do use the adjective to mean, say, cookie-cutter thoughts? Cookie-cutter ideas? Cookie-cutter quotations? Are there any words that would work, that osund better? I can only think of "one-size-fits-all" right now. Something that means something that was prepared beforehand, and therefore may be used repeatedly, maybe overused. Like a cliche such as "a penny saved is a penny earned" Thanks.

  • Answer:

Words you are looking for include trite and hackneyed. But cookie-cutter works for me to describe the abstract. It's common to call boring predictable essay structure "cookie-cutter."
