What does 'Soul Sister' mean?

  • I heard the term from 'Hey Soul Sister' by Train. Some people says it means someone you are meant to be with, or someone you're really really close with, but when I searched, some sites said it means an African-American woman or girl. I'm confused, or does the term actually have separate meanings?
