What is a thesis statement?

  • I'm writing a paper on subliminal messages and I have to include a thesis statement about subliminal messages. I'm not really sure what to write in my thesis statement??

    A thesis statement is a hypothesis. If you don't know what that is, it's you stand on the point your arguing. For example, say the topic was 'Was the bombing in hiroshima just or unjust' you could say "i believe that the bombing was just as the japanese killed millions". So in summary, it's what part of the fence you stand on. P.S. a statement for subliminal messages (this is a total guess) could be "Subliminal messages have haunted todays culture as they provide information usaually in total secrecy". P.P.S if you have to write a HYPOTHESIS then that means you need evidence to back up your thesis.
