What's the best resume format?

Answer:
One that is neatly typed. It should be on resume paper, which is usually thicker than regular paper and it should include your name, address, and phone number. You should list your job skills (things you can / have done) You should include your employment history. You should also include 2-3 personal and 2-3 business references. If you can get a letter of recommendation from a previous employer, that would be good to include, as well. Hope this helps.

<>It would depend on how professional a position you are applying for, but the basic rule of thumb, in most instances is: Be brief! If it takes more than a page, you are generally boring the reader.

It really depends on what your career goals (and accomplishments to date) are... there are plenty of web sites that discuss resume formats... I googled "best resume formats" and the first site that came up looks pretty good: http://www.distinctiveweb.com/choose.htm (this site also gives examples of each type of resume (targeted, inventory, chronological etc) I just noticed that Philski referred to the same web site... but it does look like a good one! And I wouldn't recommend trying to impress a potential employer with how "fancy" a font you can come up with... use a regular "Arial" or "Times New Roman" font... nothing fancier than that. As someone who's been involved in hiring decisions myself, I already know what word processors can do... I just want to know about the person. Good luck to you!

1 page with all relevant career and personal information. My resume has a heading with my name, phone, cell, email and address with my name in huge bold letters for the title. I have on it my career goals, my school history, and my employment history with a brief description of each. Almost any career or job site has a template, just fill in the parts you feel comfortable sharing with an employer. For example, I listed a few of my personal interests so my employer could get a better idea of the kind of person I am. MAKE SURE IT IS NO MORE THAN 1 PAGE! That is extremely important. Chances are, you aren't the only resume that an employer will be reading and they don't want to spend a half hour reading one multi-page resume. Give a concise description of yourself on the resume and save the details for your interview.
