How to spot fake money when selling via craigslist?

  • id like to sell my laptop in craigslist which costs about $500 and id like cash for it,, how and where should i set up our meet up place so ill know that the money is not fake? can it be like in a bank and deposit the payment in my bank together with the buyer?

All I can add is don't take a cashiers check, because they can be faked - and banks will typically accept a fake check, and then only tell you it's bad many days later. So if I were you I would take cash only, and verify that it's not counterfeit with one of those pens. Other signs of scams on craigslist: offering to pay you more than you asked, wanting you to ship, buyers who are not local. Just ignore anyone who asks about this kind of stuff.

Its a pen you mark across the dollar bill itself... if the line stays yellowish, money is good, if it turns black, its fake. 3. Have the bring you a cashiers check. 4. If they have the same bank as you do, then meet with them at the bank, there you can do an account to account transfer with no money touching hands, and no information revealed. good luck
