Why do post and packaging cost so much?

Am i responsible for the cost of post and packaging?

  • I purchased a camera from E Bay and it was free package and postage but had to send it back as it was faulty. I had to return it by registered post and it was costly. Am i responsible for the cost of returning this item as how was i to know it was faulty? Thanks for answering.

    No you do not have to pay the cost of returning it ALL goods sold or auctioned on e-bay are subject to the sale of goods act. This requires that ALL goods be "fit for purpose" or "as decribed" If it was bought as "new", or not as "faulty" then there is an expectation that it is "fit for purpose" However being faulty it aint, so the seller was in breach of contract and you can return it at no cost (the fact that it was sent to you with free p&p is irrelevent, its also irrelevent what the seller says about returning goods)) Anybody that says YOU MUST pay to return it is WRONG (HOW you would get the postage costs from the seller is a different question)

Yes, you are responsible for returning the merchandise at your expense. If you purchased from places like Amazon.com, they would have covered the cost. Live and learn!

Go back to Ebay and look the product up, do not login but go there as a visitor and read all the details. It might have info there. Also check the seller's ratings and feedback. You may need to contact Ebay and tell them the details that they can settle the dispute for you.

yes you have to bear the return cost but it's better than no refund I suppose. Of course you can leave a it was faulty and negative feedback if you feel it was deserved depends on how helpful the seller was in the refund.
