Accountants: How long did you have to study to pass the CPA exam?

Is this order of CPA exam section ok? Please help!?

  • Hi, I am currently a senior in college and I plan to take a Becker CPA review course (live format) this summer after graduation. Based on the schedule at the intended location I am going to take this CPA course, it is scheduled for: June: BEC July/August: FAR September : AUD Oct: REG December: BEC Because of the transcripts problems, I think my account will not be approved until August/Sept, and thus, I plan to take my first CPA exam in October. In October, I plan to take FAR and AUD, and in November, I plan to take REG. Now, my dilemma/question is whether I should start in June to study for BEC or just save it in December to study for BEC? If I start in June and study for BEC, the earliest I can take this is October (which I will be taking FAR and AUD anyways). Would this be hell? I guess I am nervous about this because of all the pressure to pass all 4 parts before I start full time. I start full time in January 2013. Should I just save BEC to study in December, and then take the test in January 2013? I don't think it should that much of a hassle/stressful to take BEC in January 2013, right? because I read online that BEC is the easiest/shortest..... ahhh please help and give me any advice! Thank you so much for reading this! :)

Hi, At CPAexcel, we delight in answering students questions and helping them along their CPA Exam Journey! First, since you have questions about getting approval to sit for the CPA Exam, I strongly suggest that you reach out to Leslie-Anne Rogers, State Selection Expert [email protected] She can tell you if you are qualified right now OR what you need to do. This way, your application makes an easier trip through the application process. There are students from other courses who have waited as long as 7 months before they were approved! Yikes! Second, I strongly suggest you take FAR first. Not only is the largest of the exams but information in FAR is tested in each of the other sections. Understanding FAR puts you far ahead in passing the other three! Third, don't start BEC if you are sitting for FAR first. BEC is like taking a college final on 7 or 8 college topics at once. Fourth, you can't sit for BEC in June or December because there are no CPA Exams given during the blackout months. The blackout months are: March, June, September and December. Our professors suggest that you take BEC last. BEC is a unique testing experience because it is the only section with Written Communications, which are essay questions. It takes a different skill set to pass them. See more reasons in the article listed down below with the sources. Since 2004, 87% of CPAexcel's alumni have passed the CPA Exam. In fact, we have had students pass all four parts in one window with scores in the 90's! For instance, here's what Michael Watson wrote: "I never did realize how great the course actually was until I passed my first section with a 94 ..." "Having started work at the same time as I was taking the exams, I was very worried that I simply wouldn't have the time to devote to studying for the CPA exam that was required. I was quickly surprised with the ease of the CPAexcel course, which enabled me to study at my own pace and get amazingly fast responses from the professors regarding topics which were unclear to me. I never did realize how great the course actually was until I passed my first section with a 94, only to pass the other three on my first try as well! I would highly recommend CPAexcel to anyone who is eager to get this exam behind them." — Michael Watson Fort Smith, AR AUD - 94, BEC - 91, FAR - 94, REG - 90 You can take a free trial of CPAexcel and use our Exam Planner to create your own plan to pass based on the number of hours you can study each week.
