What are universities offering courses in Graphic Design/3D animation?

How do Universities make money? Apart from the courses thier offering.?

  • Successful universities should have and extensive business portfolio. Just want to ask how do they use their status to generate and do business?

  • Answer:

    1. Alumni donations - soliciting. I get called all the time - can we have some of your money? 2. Registration and tuition fees. I'm not sure if this is based on an ADA model (average attendance) and states and the fed kick in money based on that. 3. Fundraising drives, dinners 4. Leasing/renting out spaces/facilities to festivals, businesses, conferences, media events, political events, concerts, movies, plays, lectures, etc. 5. Sporting events 6. Rentals Apartments, Dorms 7. Food Services 8. And lastly when I was employed with the University I signed off on any rights to any invention, patent which occured on University grounds with their equipment so they make money from licensing 9. Licensing and marketing products based off their brand name 10. banking credit unions, loans

Well in my university's example the majority of the income comes from tuition and rental properties. GW is the second largest land holder in Washington DC (behind the federal government) and they make quite a bit off that. Endowments are also another significant source of income. For well managed endowments, a $1 billion fund is not unheard of.

In India, by asking for donations (withot any bill), for an engineering or medical college seatit could be any where upto Rs. 30,00,000 that is USD $, 60,000.
