How do you personally feel about outsourcing jobs? to countries such as India, China and Mexico? Do you feel that it has directly impacted: Consumer spending? The housing market (interest rates aside)? The recent domestic auto maker losses? What are your thoughts?

Answer:
the reason to outsource is to lower the management/overhead cost. it started with outsourcing to local suppliers, then when there is need to further reduce cost, they have to outsource to cheaper countries. with cheaper product, consumer spending should not be affected. job market can be affected, which may in turn affect consumer spending. the only way to improve on the job market is to encourage people to take up new skills and get new jobs with lower pays. it is better than jobless. companies also have to move with the changes and make their own adjustments. this is more complicated and the companies need a lot of foresight to move with the changes. unfortunately, a lot of local companies fail to realise it and when they knew it, it is already too late. i don't think the housing market and the auto maker losses are the results of outsourcing.

The entire situation is unfair to businesses and workers in the First World. With no or little import taxes on goods and services provided by China and Third World countries, it is very hard to compete. Wages in China are lower than just the payroll taxes in the USA and Canada. The B-S environmental laws make entire industries not cost effective in the First World. Faced with the deck stacked against them, companies have little choice but to out source work if it lowers their costs. Better to out source all of much of the work than go out of business.

I think outsourcing should not be blamed for the loss of Jobs in America. Second, it can be an opportunity for businesses to survive in these tough times, as well as exploitation for those hired and paid slave labor rates. Is it a win-win deal? Not really. Personally, I think it's just a means to an end.. if we want to survive another day.
