What companies Donate to students?

Companies or corporations willig to donate money?

• I graduated high school last yeah, and my AVID teacher has really kept up with all of us. Anyway, she came up with this opportunity to take the current students at the high school who wished to go to DC to watch the presidential inauguration, as well as visit some college campuses. The issue is that it's 1092 per person, and since I am in college, it's not as easy to come across funds without dipping into money from checking account, which isn't a lot whatsoever. My former AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination; a college-prep course) has been trying to do fundraisers with those students, but it hasn't really been working, and has asked me to help contact corporations to donate money for everyone's trip. I think it's more then twenty people going. So my question to you all is, are there any corporations and companies that you think can help us out? And is there any other way that we can raise funds in vast amounts for a lot of people? Thanks so much.

  Times are pretty lean right now, so unless one of the students' parents owns a business with ample cash, it will be hard to get an outright donation. It doesn't help that this trip will probably be viewed largely as a vacation for a privileged 20, as opposed to a project which will impact hundreds or thousands of students. Your best bet is for each student to come up with the funds themselves, by borrowing or getting gifts from family. Some may not be able to raise the funds, but hopefully at least some can. Those who can't make it can always watch on TV.
