Buying A Leather Protection Plan?

  • I just bought a blended leather furniture set at Rooms To Go and they sold me a leather protection plan. It has only been one day. 1. Does anyone know what exactly they do to your furniture when they say they professionally treat it to protect before it leaves the warehouse? And in your opinion is this professional treatment worth the price for the protection plan? 2. They also told me I get an unlimited supply of Forcefield leather solution, but I just found online that you can get that for a dollar 25 a bottle!!!!! 3. Since its only been a day, can I get credit back by cancelling my protection plan? 4. Even if there was a stain on my couch, and I had to call them to come in, what type of cleaning method do they use to fix your stain?

  • Answer:

Generally speaking these plans are not worth it but it is your choice whether to keep it or not. I have yet to find a company that actually applies a decent protector before they sell the suite even if they have charged for it. You can purchase protectors yourself and do the same thing very easily although you do need to be careful that you buy one that works. Proper leather protectors that actually work are expensive and I would question cheap products as they are unlikely to work. If you need to call them in to a stain it would depend on the standard of technician they use as to how well it would be repaired and this would also depend on the type of leather that your suite is made from. Hope this helps
