How much should I charge for shipping on ebay?

How much should I ask on ebay to cover the shipping charge of a book with approx. 700 pages?

  • I asked a similar questtion yesterday, I am new to selling stuff on ebay. Any advice would be helpful on shipping costs and what you would recommend I should click as the shipping method/ service ( where it says shipping destination service) Thanks!

    UPS is the least expensive. I would use the 3 day ground delivery I would find the shipping rate for the weight and size of your book. You can do this online. You did not say if it was hard cover or paper back or even if it is small or large print. This has a lot to do with the size and weight of the book. http://postcalc.usps.gov/ This the the United States Post office website. Enter the stats of the book and it tells you how much it would cost to ship. I personally would use a flat-rate envelope or box, that way there is no difference depending where the buyer lives

I used to use Amazon and eBay, but i prefer Amazon. The cheapest way to ship will definately be USPS, but if you're scared of not having expedite then you can go with UPS, which is almost as cheap for you as a merchant. Also, with UPS, depending on the shipping from and to destination, you dont have to pay extra for expidite, because normal shipping usually takes 2 working days anyway. The price you should be asking for depends on the type of book, and what state its in. Textbooks go for much more, obviously. But as long as you're going to be making a profit on the book you should be fine! Shipping shouldn't cost you more than $20 at most, and im being VERY generous...coz usually with books, the most you'll pay for shipping will be about $10...the most i paid ever was $13, for a book i sold for $150. So, it's about 10%, give or take. Hope this helps!!!
