How can I open a foreign-currency bank account?

Why is my bank account unaffected by paypal purchases?

  • When I first got my paypal account I transferred money from my bank account into it. Due to it being a weekend it still is not in my paypal account;however, it has been debited from my bank account. After reading their help section I was told I could make an instant transfer from my bank account into my paypal. So I could pay a seller, without having any money in my paypal account. I made several purchases on ebay with my paypal and on my account overview it says all these transactions are complete and the funds have been transferred from my bank account to my paypal account. My bank account only has been debited once, for the original bank transfer I made and not any of the purchases I have made that are "complete". My backup funding source is also directed into my bank account through a debit card. Does it just take a while for the transaction from my bank account into my paypal to be pending? Or is there something wrong and I should contact paypal, or my bank?

  • Answer:

Yes, you can make a payment through PayPal without having any money in the PayPal account. I have made over 300 purchases, without ever funding of my PayPal account and I use the instant bank transfer (that's the default method), which is the cheapest and fastest for everyone involved. But if you don't have enough money in your bank account to pay for the purchase, then you can change the payment method to a credit card and avoid bank NSF charges.

Other answers

Hiya Frank, The answer to your question is either: 1. The initial transfer you made to your PayPal account is sufficient to cover your recent purchases so they have not been individually charged to your bank account. OR 2. There is a time lapse, sometimes PayPal take a few days to charge your purchases to your bank account. I would suggest that you wait for a week or so before contacting PayPal to inform them that your bank account has not yet been charged.
