What is the best website to sell my merchandise?

I own a website and I was wondering how to go about getting companies to sell their merchandise on my site?

  • For example if I liked a series of books and i wanted to sell them on my website, similar to amazon.com, how would I go about doing that.

    You would need to play the role of salesman and sell your product. Why would it benefit them to advertise on your site? Can you prove your site traffic? What demographic does your site target? Companies won't sell their actual merchandise on your web site unless you become an authorized dealer and buy an inventory. They will advertise though if you make it seem appealing enough. One bit of advice though. Make sure you have some decent traffic hits on your website before you go getting your hopes up high. Delusions of grandeur are your worst enemy. Look at your situation from as many angles as possible.

You need to find a wholesaler and set up a purchasing program with them - them being the middleman, the way you make money is that they wholesaler will give you discounts buy buying in bulk, you can them mark up the cost of the books by selling them individually to your customers. But I'd recommend having lots of cash on hand, amazon became successful buy underpricing - selling books AT A LOSS - to build their customer base. If you cannot get set up w/ a wholesaler, call the publishers directly they'll either wholesale directly to you or refer you to one of them.
