How to use eBay?

How do I get cheaper shipping after selling on ebay? (I used UPS Ground) Should I use USPS instead?

• I recently sold a pack of pens for $1.29 on ebay, just to find out at the time of the shipping, I had to pay $13... I live in the United States, CA, and my item was being shipped over to PA, which is straight across the country. Was there any other way to ship my items that's much cheaper? At first I tried to print the label on ebay and the cost was around $6, I thought that was expensive but holy cow, at the UPS post office it was even more than double the cost compared on ebay! Also about print labels on ebay, I'm quite unsure of the shipping cost, because I'm wondering what will happen if I accidentally entered in the wrong information for the shipping (Parcel, Flat package, etc~), will my package be rejected if I printed the wrong label? Or does that not matter?

  $13 to mail a pack of pens? Yes, USPS would have been MUCH cheaper.
