Does this store have a website? IF so what is it?

Why is there a discrepancy between in-store stock and what it says is available on the website?

  • I'm pretty pissed off at the moment because it's happened many times that I look at the in-store availability online for stores like Walmart, BestBuy, or Futureshop, and when I get to the store, it's not in stock. I know that someone didn't just buy it before I got there because I've started actually calling the store to ask the availability to find out the product claiming to be in stock is actually not. I've also checked the online stock on computers in the actual store to see how up to date it is. Employees have told me that the system is not very accurate. So why is there that discrepancy between what's actually in stock and what's purported to be on the website? Isn't the whole point of the check online stock in the store you're going to go to option for that reason?

  • Answer:

People actually have to do an inventory for the numbers to be correct and they almost never are. Perhaps, as RFID's become more common, you'll get more accurate inventories. The online website is a separate division of the company so they don't get the latest information from the stores.
