Where can I verify the authenticity of a Hong Kong company if I want to purchase products from them online?

  Hongkong doesn't have a BBB where you can check the reputation of a business. If you really want to check it out, one way is to contact the Chinese embassy and ask for their trade attache and request for assistance in determining legitimacy of the company. It sounds cumbersome -- and it is. Unfortunately, all you can do is to scour the web for any references about the company. It is hard when the company is overseas and they don't have the same consumer safeguard as in the US Make sure you pay by credit card -- so if the item never arrives, you can easily request for a chargeback with your card. Also check if your card allows for online numbers where they give you a different card number for transactions online to protect your real credit card number
