How to open a bank a/c in America?

Why do people bank with bank of america when they are a bunch of crooks?

  • i just changed banks, check this out. bank of america charged me 100 dollars for the privilage of having my account checked by the state of california . this took a nano second for the states computer to exchange info with bank of americas computer. yet im charged 100 bucks. now being a man of modest means and limited income this fee caused me to become overdrawn....wait it gets worse... i had three transactions prior to the fee which are being called overdraws by bank of america....now i will be charge 35 dollars for each of those so when i get paid again in two weeks im allready 150 bucks in the hole to bank of america.... people do not bank with bank of america they do not care for the hard working american all they are worried aboput is how to make a profit even if they have to steal it from their customers.

  • Answer:

Yeah, they ripped me off as well. But I got even. I cannot discuss how.

I ask myself that question often. They ripped me off also during a divorce, and now they are holding my son's "savings" hostage until December. People need to wake up, when the merger took place customer service went away.

I went through almost the same exact thing. My last job banked with them so in order to get direct deposit I had to bank with them too. Big mistake. After a month of having my account, I started seeing fees left and right on my bank statement and I didn't even know what I was being penalized for. I only put money in because I was saving for an apartment at the time and I only took out for living expenses (food, gas, etc.). After they kept taking out money for their imaginary fees I ended up overdrawn and then they started taking out fees for overdrafts fee that they created. I will NEVER bank with them again! I honestly this is some little scam they're running....

it's always better to bank with the small home town banks, they accually pretend to care. They could have waved the fees, but in a large chain, they have no options other than to !@# you over.

They took over MBNA. They are now the largest bank in the world. Why would they care about charging you $100 and making your account overdrawn for 3 transactions?

bank of america does ripp people off alot. they constantly have these charges for all kinds of crap that you don't even know about. then...to top it off...they take a bit of your money (i know so cause my statements never add up til i complain about it). i think people like to bank with them cause they're very well known around the country. however...i do advise not to bank with them and bank with BB&T or something like that. they have a crazy overdraft procedure but at least i know where my money is going.

i think let's not generalize and condemn boa. all banks have their inefficiencies. i don't know their side of the story but assuming that they did what they did, i can only believe that they must be working based on company policy. then you, on the other hand, should have the responsibility of managing your own finances. you obviously miscalculated how much you had in your a/c and let it be overdrawn. if boa was acting on company policy then i think they are not at fault. i bank with them, wells, wamu. each one has their ways of doing things and if i do have problems with my a/c, i talk to them and most of the time they try to help. give them a call and see what they can do for you.

All banks are crooks, some are just more convenient than others

Wachovia was voted best customer service for the 5th straight year. http://www.theacsi.org/fourth_quarter.htm#ban - 79 for Wachovia vs. 72 for Bank of America http://www.wachovia.com
