How to pay on eBay?

How can I pay for something on EBay if the option won't appear?

  • I'm having a real problem paying for an item on EBay. I have 100% positive feedback from sellers and have had no problem in the last few days paying anyone. I bought an ebook for 50p from a new seller (no wonder they didn't seem to have much negative feedback, they were totally new!) and usually I'm very careful but I figured there would be no trouble with a 50p item. I got the email invoice and pressed Pay Now and it just said 'seller cannot accept payment" and said the transaction was cancelled. I tried to pay several times and contacted the seller. They rang ebay who said their account is fine. I have emailed EBay and am waiting to hear back but the seller is saying if I don't pay them they will give me an unpaid strike. How can I pay if it won't let me?!! It's def not my account that is the problem though I have emailed PayPal as well. And can EBay take away and unpaid strike if it's proven that it's not my fault? I've done everything I can to prove I intend to pay.

  • Answer:

First, do you have "50p" (pence? pounds?) in your PayPal account? If not, deposit the right amount, then contact the seller and apologize for your error, and ask him/her to be patient until the transaction clears. Second, you might have a problem with your browser's cache. If it's Internet Explorer, log off ebay, then go to Tools, then Internet Settings, then click "Delete Files" in the "Temporary Internet Files" box, then click the "Delete offline content" box, then click "OK", then close the browser, reboot your computer (note: your version of Internet Explorer may differ from the above steps; other browsers may have similar steps), then log in to ebay, and try again. Third, if neither of the above helps, click on the link, below. P.S. I don't understand the part about the seller giving you an "unpaid strike", especially when you claim that you contacted them, and "they rang ebay who said their account is fine". I realize the seller is new, but most ebay'ers understand that problems happen, occasionally, and, as such, they will not have an issue with waiting a little longer for such to be resolved, especially since you allegedly have a 100% rating (of course, you didn't say how many items that represents, but you used the plural "sellers", so I'll trust that it's at least two!).
