I hate my job. I am bored but stressed out at the same time. What should I do?
-
Every time I get a new job, I get into this huge rut. I love it at first, but after a few months, I start to hate everything about it. I currently work as a receptionist for a medical office and I have been here for 6 months.I was a waitress before I started this job. I make great money and my boss loves me, but everyday I am here I just want to walk out. I am bored with my job, I can't stand the people I work with, and find myself getting an attitude with everyone I have to talk to. I don't want to leave because it took so long to find this job, and I don't want to start over. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I can do to get out of this rut?

Answer:
The reason you are stressed and hate your jobs is because you feel unfulfilled. You need to find something you love to do. What are your hobbies? Find that and go from there. If that field requires schooling, then get your butt in school. That is the only way to get out of the rut. I had the same problem. I waited tables, was a secretary, but none of them seemed to fulfill me, so I would quit from boredom or thinking the grass was greener somewhere else, when it was the exact same. I am currently at a fork and not sure if I want to finish my degree, which would take about two years of go to cosmotology school. Either way I will work for myself and can make my own hours and still make money. That is what I would suggest anyway... Hope it helps!

Hey i know the feeling! I thought I was just crazy (hmm maybe I am) - I thought maybe I just got bored easily. I went from job to job and like you, started off excited then wanted to strangle someone after 6mths. My last job was so boring - good pay but sooo boring and worked with she-devil herself (she wasn't the boss, just thought she was...) - so I took on a casual night waitressing job just to keep me sane and meet some new people, within 2months they offered me fulltime restaurant manager so I took the job. Was a massive leap from real estate to hospitality but it was the the best thing I ever did. The same goes for men - I think the world of them at first then one day it dawns on me that they frustrate the hell out of me and I can't stand to be around them. I am hoping that maybe it's just that I haven't found the right guy, and that when I do I won't feel that way about him! But yea, that's a whole different story! Good luck - you may feel like a quitter but maybe like me you just need to find your niche in life! Once you do you will feel so much happier!

Honestly think about what you would really like to be doing. If you don't have the qualifications to do that, then start working toward getting qualified. Then you will be on your way to something exciting, and you will be (once again), excited just knowing you have something to look forward too. Just start. Or be like Nike, Just Do It. :)

I would say you might need to take some energy pills to pep your self up. If you keep this up you might loss your job. Stick with it and apply with in so you can move up. I know starting all over is a but but what are your reasons for staying there, have kids a home a husband or just lazy. Every morrning before you leave to work look in the mirror and tell your self you can do this, you need to do this for (me, my kids my life,) and leave with a smile.

Go back to school. Start taking a class at a time in something you're interested in. You might just find your next career and enjoy what you do.
