When I've issued a refund on PayPal, how long until I get my money back?

My client already sent me the payment for the writing job i did for them. But unlike my earlier transactions with PayPal, the 'accept' button wasn't on the page. Instead, there was the 'issue refund' button. So I informed my client and they said that the payment they sent me registered 'completed' and they never recalled the payment. Anyway, I decided to just click on the 'issue refund' button. And when I logged on again the next day, the PayPal log page told me that I have canceled the payment. I asked my client if she got the 'refund notice', and they haven't 2 days later. Now my question is this: Is my money floating in PayPal cyber space now? Will I get it soon? What should I do?
Answer:

it wont you have refunded them! I receive payments all the time and they are accepted automatically, by clicking the refund button you have returned the funds to them.

contact customer service...but if i recall I recently got an email talking specifically about holding funds for an interim period before cash actually exchanges hands...It's a recent revision of their policy. Contact customer service to make sure the funds can be accounted for...but unfortunately I do believe they will float for a time as determined by paypal
