Are you a successful salesperson? I need tips!?

How do you sell? I mean, I find that people refuse to even listen to you because you're trying to sell. Where I work, the two deals we're trying to sell right now are fantastic...seriously, you'd have to be an idiot not to buy them. Employees aren't allowed to buy them, so I can't...but if I could, of course I would. I really think people are calloused to selling no matter how great the deal is because so many people try to sell to them. People are now conditioned to say "No, thanks" the second you start talking. How do I get around this?

Do not sell. If the deal is so great it will sell itself. You just open up a line of conversation. Get to know the customer and let them know you (the real you not the salesperson you). Then when you have their confidence introduce the product and let the deal take care of itself.

Hello: Successful salesperson here. Most beginning sales people make the mistake of "selling" the product or service. Selling is 30% talking and 70% listening. You talk to your prospect, not "at" them. The first thing I want to know is if my prospect has an interest in my product or service. If they do not want to hear my presentation, I go on. Prospect, "if" I could show you how to turn $10 into $1,000,000 "would you" give me five minutes of your time? You win whether they say yes or no. The next thing I want to know is if my prospect can afford my product. Prospect, I know you are going to love my product or service as much as I do. So as not to disappoint you at the end of my presentation, can you safely afford the $10 and not take food off your table or miss a tuition payment? Yes or no, you win again. Where would that $10 be coming from? Your wallet, checking account, credit card, etc? Now they are qualified and you are ready to present the features and benefits, ask questions then shut up and listen. You are telling a story and building a mental picture and creating a dream of how that $1,000,000 will make the prospects life better. Ask for the order 5 times during your presentation even if they say no 4 of those times. Hope this helps.

forget everything neone has told you. I am the number one seller in my company and its all cold calling sales. first-be confident in yourself! whats the worst they can do say no? how many times were u told no as a child?? millions? so dont take it personal. and be yourself. dont think of it as selling think of it as offering your product that will better the consumers life. know your product, the ins the outs, the pros the cons. always think 3 steps ahead..selling is like chess. have an answer for any question. a response for any why or no. have faith in what ur selling. always always always do follow up calls to your customer. if they are unhappy, buy the product back. this shows that you have faith in what ur selling. i have spent probably over 4 years 5,000 dollars buying my product back from unhappy people, but u know what, they went and told there friends, family, co workers about my product, and they bought it bc they found that they had a use for it. never cross ur arms or put ur hands in your pocket wen talking with a customer, it shows ur closed up. leave ur personal space open. always look them in the eye. know what ur competition is selling. if someone out there has a similar product, have them do a sales call. that way u get their info, and u can know what their downfall is and u can play off of that..but never talk bad about ur competition, just let the customer know why yours is superior and why they should choose u not the product. hope this helps and good luck..sales is money!!!!

i think its tough to explain in words how to sell something well. its a skill thats tough to learn from just reading. id just watch people who are good at it and get a feel for how they do things. generally, you want to ask yourself what does the person im talking to want/need and what are their concerns, and then explain why your product can fill that need want/need the best and ease their concerns (but dont lie). theyre afraid it is too expensive? well, will it save them money in the long run, or is it a better value than a cheaper competitor, etc...

First of all I need more info...Is the business one where you need to call leads or is it one where you offer a service and they come to you or your business in need of a service? Depending on which one depends on which tactics you choose. Also, It's important to be able to talk to people in a casual and friendly way, but it's also important to be able to read people--Is the person that your dealing with all business and reserved or is that person open to friendly banter during the process? Learning to read the consumer is very important. Also, learning to overcome objections is very important. In the course of your sellingg, the client may and probably will state an objection about your product. Think of any possible ones that they may say and be ready with OVERCOMING that objective. Remember to acknowledge what they said--no one likes to be dismissed--but offer a positive to replace the negative that the client just stated. Also, figure out your own personality and whether you are a soft sell or a hard sell and be that. For instance, if your company insists on hard selling, but you are a soft sell, then you may do better at a different company. You can find information on overcoming objectives and hard sellin vs. soft selling on line probably. There are a lot of good sales books out there too. Good luck and hope this helps!

Yeah the problem would be that you are trying to sell them your product. People can tell if that is your motivation, you must be motivated only to make their life better, whether that involves your product or not. Also even if something is a great deal people will create self imposed objections like I don't have enough X or if it wasn't for X. Your job is to get them past that through a mindset of understanding. Sincerely, Ken Seavert
