How do you patent ideas?

Should I really patent my ideas?

  • Things come to me in my dreams. When i tell my husband about them he always says..."honey you should patent that" I don't ofcourse and more than once we run across my idea somewhere. Do you really think I should patent my ideas?

  • Answer:

If you don't patent them someone else may come across the idea and then you will want to kick yourself when they are laughing all the way to the bank. It is best to act on the ideas. Whatever you do, do NOT put the ideas online here or someone may take that and get a patent on what it is then.

Depends on how valuable they are. Getting a patent is a tedious and costly process, but if the idea is worthwhile, you can do well. I have a friend who just got a quarterly patent royalty check -- for $21,000.

as an investor specialising in innovation, I can tell you tjhat less than 1% of patents get to market, from my point of view, we invest in the vehicle which takes your idea to market, rather than the patent, in a few market sectors it is very important A patent can cost a fortune, and the minute it is registered people will try to reverse engineer it. A patent alone is worth nothing My advice is to spend you money investing in the business model you want to use to make your idea a commercial reality... If you want to get an idea to market, my advice would be to conduct the research, if you approach people do so under NDA (non disclosure ) once you have a commercial agreement in place your idea has a chance of having a value and getting off the ground adrian smith discovery beach

Patenting is a lengthy and expensive process. The requirements are pretty stringent. You should only start the process if you have a patentable invention that you intend to use commercially. You should also be aware of the difference between patents, copyrights, and trademarks. If you believe that you do need to patent and idea or invention, you will need to retain a patent attorney. I wouldn't put my trust in any of the internet sites of TV ads that claims that they can help you--my intuition tells me that they are after your hard-earned cash, but won't help you patent or market a durned thing.

If you have the confidence to show your ideas with the support of your husband than i do think you should patent them

No. You could fail or hit it big, too much risk-reward. Plus, Quite Frankly, your ideas probably aren't that good anyways. Dont take it the wrong way, but truthfully, do you know how great a product idea has got to be to hit it huge? It's gotta be the next big thing. Unless you have full confidence in this product......it's a TERRIBLE TERRIBLE idea. YOU COULD LOSE IT ALL. ALL. EVERYTHING. TODOS.

I am a firm believer that if the you have an idea that seems like it will work right it down and maybe if you think that it will sell with people, go for it!!
