To see which mascot is truly better, we must take a look at some of their best games from the 4th generation. The sega fanboys chose. Sonic 2 The multiplayer side scrolling sequel to to the first sonic game. But the nintendo fanboys are not impressed at all. Super mario world! Mario's first game on the super nintendo. Sonic 2 is great but in super mario world you do more than just run fast and platform. like ride yoshi and select which level you want to play on a map. The edge goes to mario! Now we will take a look at these mascot's games from the later 90's Sonic adventure! Said to be one of the best sonic games ever made. this legend showed the true power of a dream long forgotten. Super mario 64! A great mario game that helped sell nintendo's last cartridge based system. These games are both great, fun and 3d but 1 of them is just too beautiful to ignore. Sonic gets the edge! Both of these competitors have been on failed consoles before. The sega fanboys attack with... Sonic cd!!! A game that ironically is considered the greatest sonic of them all. Nintendo fanboys have something different going for their game... Mario clash! Released for the virtual boy. While mario clash is in 3d, it's all in red and not even close to the legend of sonic cd. Sonic gets the edge! Lastly we will compare 2 more recent releases of these games. Sonic colors!! This sonic game released for the wii is possibly the best one since the dreamcast. But the mario fanboys claim their new game is much better. Super mario galaxy! Sonic colors and super mario galaxy... this is really close but the better game with more to do really is mario galaxy. Nintendo gets the edge. Now we will enter all the data into the computer and simulate the battle 1000 times. Sonic 733 kills Mario 277 kills This match up was surprisingly one sided but it had alot to do with the fact that when sonic was better than mario it was WAY better. like sonic adventure vs mario 64 and sonic cd vs mario clash. while when mario was better(mario galaxy and super mario world), it wasnt better by all that much. just slightly better here and there. Not enough better to make the difference it needed to win. Sonic fanboys: mario was no match. He was never a match. Weather sonic was on the genesis or cd or dreamcast or even now on their own system. sonic rules. bottom line. Nintedo fanboys: None of this is actually true. i mean just take a look at who is still making systems. Mario is better and thats that.

  From a character standpoint: Sonic would win. While both have an amazing line up of power ups in their arsenal even strong enough to become invincible for a while. When both are out of power ups sonics speed and agility would outdo mario. From a franchise standpoint: Mario wins. All mario games of the modern age have received positive reviews and more sales then the modern sonic games which got mixed to bad reviews.
