Why is it called xbox 360?

...*facepalm* if you turn 360 degrees you will still be looking a it. I think you meant 180. As for the name its because things had come full circle in other words 360.

Because it compleatly turns around video games, its the best.

Its called Xbox 360 because the system is all around better then the original Xbox. That's the real reason. The creator of the system named it that cause everything about the system is enhanced to go on being upgraded and Microsoft can change the entire system with on update. 360 is a circle so meaning all around better. The only thing wrong with that is it stops when it get ROD. (Ring Of Death)

The Microsoft team tried several names and finally decided on Xbox 360 because, among other reasons, it puts gamers at the center of the circle. Then they took the name to the public to see the general reaction and people always had a personal reaction tot he name by associating it with pleasant personal experiences so they kept this name.

I've heard it's named after the buttons on the PS3 controller. X= X button, Box= Square button, 360= circle button. It's a stupid theory, considering the Xbox360 came out first, but I just thought I'd throw it in there. Edit- Omg guy below me copied and thumbs my answer down. Wth. A 360 degree angle is called a Revolution. And then they decided they would call it Xbox 360 because they want it to be revolutionary. Thats what I think anyway.

Well there is and x on the box so thats first clue then the sums of all the angles of a square equal 360 so thats why.
