• I was going to purchase Bon Voyage from www.Amazon.com. After reading reviews I found out that many people had issues with securom telling them that they needed to install the actual game disk when they were already using the real game disk. Other had issues installing the game. Other people said that securom even shut down their cd drives so that their pcs couldn't read or write cds / dvds . Most of these reviews were dated two years ago. I assume that it is possible that these issues may be bugs from the first copies of the games that were released and may be fine now. Has anyone had any trouble with installing and using Bon Voyage and other expansion packs lately. I would really like to know before I buy and Ep's and waste money and potentially risk damaging my new pc that is only a month and a half old. Thank you for all of your help, I really appreciate it.

  No they weren't bugs and still aren't. If you read around here more, you would find people were still having the same problems: the same questions come up week after week. It's not a problem with the game but a problem with the disk copyright protection system. It's very controversial and EAxis has lost a lot of sales because of it - the game is still very profitable but there is a growing body of customers who will not buy the game or any of the newer EPs because of this issue (or indeed Spore or Sims 3 - Spore was a flop partly because of this issue). The current versions of Securom can be extremely aggressive - the pre-Pets versions weren't so bad. It has to be said that the people who posted those reports were unluckly - the copy protection software does not always affect people's computers like that. It does depend on your individual set up. However, most of us (well, most of us in the wider Sims community), since Pets have used a noCD crack. This allows you to run the game without having to use the DVD/CD. You install the game but before you run it, you replace the exe file with the noCD crack. You then run the game from the noCD crack. You can get one from Gamecopyworld. Make sure you get the right one. Points to note: 1. Make sure you get the right noCD crack (there will be patched and unpatched versions for each EP), 2. Keep the original copy of the file safe - you will need it if you install a patch or a new EP and 3. make sure you run the game from the noCD crack - the shortcut in the desktop does not point to the game exe but to the stupid launcher thing which will initiate Securom if you load it. So don't. Either change the shortcut so it points to the game exe or make a new short cut from the noCD crack file (if you don't know, right-click and choose 'make shortcut').
