What's the difference between a US version PSP and a Japan version PSP?

What's the difference between a psp japan/asia and u.s. version? I am confused. What firmware is the latest?

    First answer is wrong, they are all made in the same factories around the world. Infact my UK PSP was made in Japan. Durability is the same from one model to the other. Also the rumour about japanese ones having a better screen is just that, a rumour and nothing more. All PSP's are made the same, same components by the same underpaid workers. The differences are. Asian PSP's O button is select and X is cancel. Each PC is region locked for movies. Amercia is region 1, UK and Japan are region 2. There are many different model number but all this relates to is the geographical region the PSP was designed for. It does not signify any other differences. The latest firmware is 2.80 but you can update your PSP any time to the latest. Mine came with 1.50 but now runs 2.80. Updating firmware can be done via the built in updater, you just click and it will connect to your wireless network and update itself. You can also download the update to your PC and update via a USB cable which costs about $2 or many games come with an update on the disk but these rarely are the latest.

US products are new to society, in other word they are mostly inventions; but, Japan products copying the technology and strengthening the external appearance and market needs. US market is very strong due to inventions, Japn market is strong due to appliance of the inventions. You chose Indian or Chinese products, which does not hold any value in it.

theres little difference u can say.....as theres no NTSC/PAL issues ... but the asian version has support for local languages apart from english..

2.80 is the lastest firmware. i'm sure that the psp is region-free and the main differnce is just the language settings
