What is the westermarck effect?

If I start a game on Mass Effect 3 without importing from ME2, what decisions will have been made?

• I've played through both Mass Effect and Mass Effect 2 before, and I'm just about to get Mass Effect 3, but I was in the middle of playing through the second game again just to remind myself of all the story details when the disc broke, so presumably I won't be able to import the Shepard from my first playthrough into the third game. So, assuming you start a game in Mass Effect 3 without importing, what decisions throughout the first and second games will have been made automatically? As far as I'm aware, the Collector Base will have been spared, and presumably all the automatic decisions if you started a game in ME2 without importing are the same (Kaidan killed on Virmire, Council left to die, etc.), but what else is there?

  If you do not have Mass Effect 1 save data then: the colony on Feros was not saved Shiala the Asari was killed the Rachni Queen on Noveria was killed the Council died and the Destiny Ascension was destroyed Udina is the Councilor No DLC events will be transferred over Garrus was recruited Wrex was recruited If you do not have Mass Effect 2 save data then: Garrus is alive Jack died on the last mission Tali was recruited and alive Samara was never recruited Thane died on the last mission Miranda is alive Jacob is alive Legion was never activated Shepard destroyed the Collector’s Base Shepard did not complete Mordin’s loyalty mission Tali was exiled by her people No N7 missions are completed No DLC will be transferred over (Arrival, Overlord or Lair of the Shadow Broker) ie: Zaeed and Kasumi were never encountered in ME2
