The Sims 3, Installing custom content and items from the online store?

I got the collector's edition the other day and I created an account for the sims3.com or whatever. I bough a few items on the online store with the $10 of free points that came with the game. It downloaded it okay, and it got sent to the downloading screen but when I hit install nothing happened. Please help me, I was never able to figure out how to download stuff for the Sims 2, and I would really like to be able to for this game. Oh yeah, and this random EA thing pops up asking me to register, and I did, and it asks me to download the sims 2 store, which I did, but since I deleted all my sims 2 stuff it says it won't work. Sorry if this all sounds confusing...
Answer:

Make sure the files are all in your My documents > Electronic Arts > Sims 3 > Downloads. Then run the sims 3 launcher, go to install, they should show up. If not, contact EA support.

I am also having this same issue with my collectors edition of the sims 3.. I spent all my sim points and I got nothing out of it because it wont install at all? The only 2 things I could get to install was the free town and the free car! Please if anyone can help us then it would be muchly appreciated!
