Grand Theft Auto 4-13 year old?
-
Im 13 years old, get good grades in school, have a social life and are allowed to play violent games like Halo and Call of Duty 4. I know that the things in the Grand Theft Auto games are not real and I know right from wrong. My parents watch rated r movies with me and i am not deeply affected by them. Ive played the GTA games many times at friends houses and that doesnt affect me either. I dont have thr urge to go out and blow up a car or murder a person in public. Also, as in a normal middle school, i hear about sex frequently. My mom has heard of GTA and she knows some of the things that are in it, although i dont think she knows that its an open world game. Most of my friends will be getting Grand Theft Auto 4 and i am nervous to bring up the topic with my parents. So, considering all of these things, do you think a 13 year old like myself, should be allowed to get GTA4? Thanks!

Answer:
Your parents should allow you to get it. I was playing 18's at around 13 and I was never affected. When I was 11 I didn't get the urge to shoot alians. When I was 12 I didn't get the urge to drive cars off rooftops. When I was 13 I didn't get the urge to shoot peoples heads. --- And now at 15 I play Gears of War quite alot. And I haven't yet decided to go get a chainsaw and slice people in half with it. --- Parents just don't want you playing GTA sort of games because they think when your young (even at 13, don't forget that you are still just a grown up child) that... "What-You-See-Is-What-You-Do" Because when our parents was younger it seems that things where a bit more strict back then. But it seems that if your parents let you play Call of Duty 4 GTA should be ok.

If video games had any influence on behaviour I'd have been jumping down pipes and eating mushrooms as a kid.

I'm 14 and I had the same problem with my parents few years ago. I think they should let you play the game, because what REALLY matters is that you know its fake and you can distinguish good things and bad things. People that you hear on the news that played GTA and went to school the next day with a gun and killed someone are kids that got really deep in the game.

depends on your parents. ive been playing GTA since i was 10 because my parents KNOW that i will not get brain-washed from GTA. i would say if your parents trust you enough

yer just ask your parents and say that you know that none of its real and have no intention of acting on things youve seen in the game also mention that your mates are going to get it and you dont want to feel left out :)
