Playstation 2 Region Codes? PLEASE help!?

I have a Playstation, bought in Ireland. I bought a game for it on ebay that came from America. When I try to play the game, "Please insert a Playstation or Playstation 2 format disc." comes up on the screen! I know its because the game has a different region code.. so is there any way I can change the region code? When I go into the browser, no disc icon comes up. It just goes into the screen saying "Please insert a Playstation or Playstation 2 format disc." straight away! So yeah, how can I change my region code? HELP! >.<

I do not think you can change the region code on your Ps2 but i believe that you can rip the game to your computer and burn that game without a region code
