Nintendo wifi?

On the nintendo wifi site it says. Wifi on the go. But isn't it impossible to wifi on the go because you need a nintendo wifi usb connecter. With my game " Animal crossing:Wild world, I tried using an access point instead of the usb connector and that didnt work. So how can i be near a hotspot and be able to wifi on animal crossing using my nintendo ds?

sorry only know about "pokemon diamond ds" wifi connection setup, never played "animal crossing"
