Mod The Sims 2 Files?

okay, so, When I download stuff from sims 2.com, it appears on my desktop and i double click and it sais do u want to install custom content and i do install and it goes into my game. I downloaded a cool lexus from mod the sims 2.com and it goes on my desktop like a zipped up file. Then i double click on the sile and it shows my download. i double click on that and it sais would u like to open this file and i do yes and it sais windows had trouble opening this file, what do i do??????

Those files are supposed to go into your download folder. It's located at My Documents/EA Games/The Sims 2/Downloads.
