In Asia, the DS is absolutely killing the PSP. However, the majority of people who buy DS's in Hong Kong and Japan also buy R4 cards to illegally download games. Do you think the R4 is actually boosting Nintendo DS sales and the reason for their recent success?

Possibly ... Perhaps persons who were borderline thinking of getting DS were prompted by the prospect of free games...However in the USA I think the reason for their recent success in the DS market was the shortage of Wiis at X-MAS time.... It made a great back up purchase for many parents/ grandparents... who are CLUELESS about the R4. You have to remember that the DS sells in the millions to causal gamers , many that will not know about or invest the time to a acquire a R4 type of device. .. You just can't walk into a store and buy one like you can in asia. Interesting question !
