Does anyone know the base number for good FPS in PC gaming?
-
So, the performance of a video card or playability of a game is determined by FPS depending on the game settings right. But then, how do you know what a good FPS number is? Are 60FPS considered good frame rates? Example: pushing the settings of CNC 3 Tiberium Wars [old title, I know] to the max, max AA, Graphics setting Ultra High etc etc. What then would be the magic number for good - excellent FPS?

Answer:
It depends on the person what they find 'acceptable'. 60+ FPS is good and generally agreed on being playable. The higher FPS you have the better. It also depends on the game for a shooter (esp. in multiplayer) you'll want high FPS as a split-second is the thing between virtual life and death. Anything below 40 FPS is 'ok' for slow games like RTS, below 30 you get noticable delay on screen.
