Does action replay work with windows vista?

Does the action replay program work with windows vista?

  • The code manager program works but i cant connect my DS.

  • Answer:

I had the problem that on the left side of the computer screen, it said waiting for the DS when it was already connected. My computer (XP) would make the noise of something being plugged into it (meaning it probably wasn't a hardware issue) but would still wait for the DS. I installed the new drivers and software from online and it worked. When I wrote to Action Replay at their website (www.codejunkies.com) and this is what they sent me: Please check the firmware version of your Action Replay DS and choose the appropriate version below – (The firmware version can be found at the top right of the Nintendo DS Screen when the Action Replay is loaded to the main menu) FIRMWARE VERSION 1.60 OR ABOVE Unfortunately, the incorrect drivers were included on the Action Replay DS disc that came with your product. Download the Nintendo DS Action Replay software and drivers from the link below. Extract the zipped archive to a folder on your PC, and run the included Setup file to install the Action Replay Code Manager. Having this folder on your desktop is the easiest place. After installing this software, you may connect your Action Replay to a free USB port directly on the PC to begin driver installation. If you are required to point to the location of the drivers, they may be found in the folder to which you extracted the files form the download. Action Replay DS PC Software -links to http://us.codejunkies.com/downloads/ActionReplayDS_CD.zip To properly install the drivers, go to your computer's Device Manager. (Make sure to have your Action Replay connected at this point) Choose the following according to your computer's operating system: For XP users: 1) Bring up your Device Manager (Start-> right click My Computer -> Properties -> Hardware tab -> Device Manager). Go to 'USBIO Controlled Devices'. It should show as Data Max, NDA Link, or a similar title. Right-click and choose "Update driver". 2) You will go through the following prompts: -Can Windows connect to Windows Update to search for software? No, not this time. -What do you want the wizard to do? Install from a list or specific location. -Don't search. I will choose the driver to install. -'Have Disk...' button -'Browse' button -Choose the location where you extracted the software set up files (your Desktop in most cases). 3) Go back to your Device Manager, and the title should now properly read 'NDS Link' or 'NDA Link'. 4) Open your Code Manager program, and it should read 'NDS Codes' on the left side. For Vista users: 1)Bring up your Device Manager Device Manager (Start-> right click Computer -> Properties). Choose Device Manager from the left side under 'Tasks'. Go to 'USBIO Controlled Devices'. It should show as Data Max, NDA Link, or a similar title. Right-click and choose "Update Driver software...". 2) You will go through the following prompts: -Browse my computer for driver software. -Let me pick from a list of drivers on my computer. If you still have problems connecting after the Code Manager Software and drivers have been installed correctly, please refer to the information for Firmware Versions below 1.60 listed below. These steps can also be found under the Nintendo DS/Action Replay section at www.datelcustomerservice.com. FIRMWARE VERSIONS BELOW 1.60 If you are having difficulty establishing a connection between your PC and your DS Action Replay, please review the steps below. If you continue to encounter problems, please be sure to specify what operating system is in use on your PC. (Windows XP, Windows Vista, etc..) ·Install and upgrade your software If the Action Replay Code manager software is not installed, insert the disc included with your AR and allow setup to proceed automatically. Once the software is installed, click on the Software Upgrade button in the upper-right corner to download the latest version of the PC software. Afterwards, you may also click the button again to download the latest firmware update for your DS AR. ·Ensure the DS AR disc is inserted in your CD-Rom drive The drivers for your DS AR are located on this disc, and it should be accessible when the device is connected to the PC. If the software has already been installed, and the setup automatically begins when re-inserting the disc, you may cancel the setup wizard. ·Activate Updating Mode Insert your Action Replay into the DS, and power on the DS. When you see the Action Replay main menu, tap the button that looks like a mouse. This will cause the device to enter updating mode. In this mode, there will always be a bar on the bottom screen labeled Updating. This bar will be red when empty, and fill with green when data is being transferred to the DS AR. Once the bar fills with green and a data transfer is complete, it will return to the red empty state. In addition, the status screen at the top will continue to list the last action after a transfer. Please keep a close eye on the bar and any status windows in the PC software when transferring data to the device. Data Transfer should never be interrupted, so do not disconnect the device or power off the DS during any transfer. If a window detailing transfer on the PC goes away, or the bar returns to its red state after filling with green, then it should be safe to disconnect the device. ·Connect the DS Action Replay to the PC Connect the small end of the included cable to the DS AR. Use care when inserting the cable, as excessive pressure can cause the cartridge to eject. Next, connect the other end of the USB cable to a free USB port on the back of your PC. Some users may have USB ports on both the front and back of the PC, but the ports on the back are preferable. Do not connect the DS AR through a USB Hub. After connection, allow the drivers to install automatically on the PC. ·Open the Action Replay Code Manager software After the drivers have been installed, open the Code Manager software and you should see “NDS Codes” in the left-hand window. At this point, you may drag-and-drop individual games from the subscriptions window on the right side on to your DS on the left. If a firmware update was downloaded using the Software Upgrade button, you may be prompted to transfer the update at this time. If you still see “Waiting for DS” in the left window, try disconnecting the cable from your PC and reconnecting it to a different USB port on the back of the PC.
